Reminders The interruption layer

Get the nudge without managing another inbox.

Create the reminder in conversation and receive it there later. Choose a single time, a fixed interval, a daily list, or a conditional check-in.

One-time reminders

Attach the nudge to a task or write it on its own.

A task can own more than one reminder. Standalone reminder text works when there is no task to track. A pending manual reminder can be moved or removed without creating a duplicate.

  • Task reminder“remind me about the lab report at 7pm tdy”
  • Standalone“remind me to bring my ID tmrw at 8am”
  • Correct“make that 8:30 instead”
  • Remove“remove the 8:30 reminder”

Deadline reminders

Exact-time tasks can carry two automatic nudges.

An exact-time deadline can create a reminder ten minutes before and another at the deadline. A date-only deadline does not pretend to have an exact time. Automatic deadline reminders can be removed without deleting the task.

Fixed intervals

Repeat the reminder, not the task.

Recurring reminders can point to a task or standalone text. The minimum interval is five minutes. If the service is unavailable, missed occurrences are skipped rather than replayed later as a burst.

Recurring reminder or recurring task?

A recurring reminder repeats a message. A recurring task creates future obligations that can be completed. They are separate systems.

Daily messages

A full list when you want it, or a check-in only when needed.

Daily list

  • Choose one or multiple local times.
  • Change or remove a schedule.
  • Duplicate times are rejected.
  • An empty list skips the message.

Smart check-in

  • Requires explicit opt-in.
  • Sends only for overdue work or work due within 48 hours.
  • Asks whether you want to plan.
  • Never creates a plan without your reply.

Snooze and delivery

Refer to the reminder that actually arrived.

Snooze resolves a delivery from the previous 24 hours, then schedules it by duration or exact future time. TextTodo records delivery attempts before sending and does not intentionally resend an ambiguous attempt.
